Eddie Ogata

Eddie Ogata was born on O’ahu and raised on Maui. He started surfing at the age of 12 years. Eddie learned to surf at Kahului Harbor on Mauis North Shore and began to surf competitively as a teenager. He won the US National and the Hawaiian State Championships. During his competitive time he was sponsored by: Local Motion, DaKine and Bodyglove. After Eddie retired from the surf competitions, he passed on his knowledge and experience to the young surfing team of Local Motion as their team coach. In his surfing career Eddie traveled numerous times to the Tahitian Islands, Fiji, Indonesia and California. During his travels Eddie was always excited to learn about the local culture and the local surfers. Eddie Ogatas travel days have inspired him to share his local knowledge, culture and passion for the ocean with visitors from all over the world.
